Food Post

It's ten minutes to four and I am getting my first cuppa of the day, I have been busy today and this is my first chance to stop, so I am taking full advantage, to tide you over until tomorrow on a scrumptious Saturday post, enjoy this picture of tomatoes:

Have a good weekend!

Delhi Belly

I've a nasty sore tum this morning and I've not even been anywhere exotic and sun-drenched that I could attribute my bleurgh too. I've not eaten anything strange or unusual, not had anything that could irritate my stomach, it's just a mystery! Thank goodness it's not as bad as this though:

I thought I would pull up another popular meme traversing the interwebs, I had to chuckle when an Airwick air freshener advert popped up as I was snipping it, appropriate?!

Royal Bank of Scotland

It's been 9 days from I had a working bank account (I bank with Ulsterbank part of RBS Group), bills and subs aren't being paid, I've no access to money unless I actually go into local branch and explain to the staff what money I am expecting in, having them noseying through my finances and producing my horrific photo id driving licence and begging. For everyone saying "it could be worse, there was that guy who had to remain in jail because they couldn't process his bail"...bully for him he's being fed and watered, I'm listening to my electric sing and buying dated food at reduced prices as I'm not sure how much I have to spend. At the start of the year RBS CEO made headlines for receiving a bonus £963,000, he's due a similar amount now? GTFO you shower of bastards and clear up this steaming pile of cow manure that you have left thousands of people wallowing in. Just for interest, one of the bills I had to ring and ask for an extension on because of your fail, the guy I was speaking to banked with Natwest (also part of RBS group) and had no problem giving me an extension, for any others I will be sending you bills of my charges incurred.

Plants, Teenagers and the Circus

Today I enrolled in a NVQ Horticultural course as part of my agreement to take the allotment, like I didn't have enough to do! Oh well, when I go crackers at least I can talk to the flowers. My eldest son (nearly 18) babysat his two wee sisters while I went to the course, he's a sweet kid who works hard as in the kitchen in a restaurant of a hotel and is saving up for a new computer, he also keeps dropping hints about a car for his upcoming birthday. Oh well I may use bribery for a few more babysitting assignments before the big day. The little ones are easier to blackmail; I am taking Miss Five to the circus tonight and she has been an angel from the weekend when I told her.

Draw Something

From it was released at the start of the year, the app Draw Something took off like a stripper at bachelor's party. It piqued my interest as sketching and art is an important staple to me, it has spawned websites around the net of funny, lousy, amazing and dire artworks.

Sometimes it's just doodling. other times it can be a cathartic way to vent frustration and more often than not, it can be the cause of the frustration.

And then again it can be a communication tool between couples...

To the smart phones!

Two Days Running

My apologies for another day without a substantial post but as my daughter is going to a fairy fancy dress party this evening and I still haven't finished her wings. it can't be helped!

Sunday 24 June 2012

Keyboard

My crappy keyboard died a death part way through typing a post this morning. I'm just back from a bizarrely overly busy supermarket and it's too late for me now to write much so more tomorrow :)

Oreos and Milk

Wait... Yellow, did you just criticise a baby about it's inability to breastfeed correctly? GTFO with your preachy, sanctimonious, mombie rhetoric and give that kid its biscuit.

Certain lactivist idealists won't even consider the possibility that not everyone can breastfeed or even want to. It's a personal choice in my opinion and there are many positives for bottlefeeding also.

Coneheads

Are we alone in the universe? Do aliens with pointy heads exist? Are we being infiltrated and studied by superior beings? Or is it all a crock?

WoW = FB

I've always liked WoW and with the free time I have, I couldn't really devote to another MMO. I've been playing SW:TOR from late December but that's been having a bit of a server leak for European realms, many breaths were held hoping they would merge the *only* English speaking RP-PvP realm, still waiting, so in the meantime I'm not playing that as often...Diablo 3, I just couldn't get my interest up, I hated the fact I couldn't change my character creation and I was stuck with a ginger witch doctor, altho my demonhunter was fairly awesome looking. Oh well, still got the old standby.

Thongs

Flip flops or thongs, maybe even havaianas? What do you call the toe separating bits of rubber shoes that you get in hot countries? In recent years they've been blinged up a bit, personally I didn't think it possible to make them look anymore tacky, for all those who feel distaste about crocs, that's how I feel in regards to thongs.

PS Duck Egg Blue, you're*.

Tuesday 19 June 2012

Oh, Sorry

I was half way through a post about five hours ago and wandered off upstairs and ended up reading a book and falling asleep for a nap, forgot about the blog.

Good thing tomorrow's post will have you on the edge of your seat in a ballgripping vice of excitement.

Demotivational Speaking

My eldest child and comic afficionado and I were having a discussion about my comic idea, I was saying I wanted to do a historical fantasy and he was begging me to set it in space. Intriguing but I don't think *this* one is going orbital. I found the Viking festival so inspiring the other week, so I want to draw from that and I am feeling very motivated.

Creativity

The last few nights I've been developing a creative idea to fruition in my head. Initially, I thought "short story" but there was more that I wanted to express; "novel", I wrote a basic synopsis but it didn't feel exactly right for this idea; "painting", starting to move along the right lines and I certainly wanted to be visually expressive; "dark, sub-culture doll", all my dolls, even the sinister ones, seem to look cutsie. So what to do? How do I combine the idea of a story with fantasy elements, drawing on all my creative processes? Comic book, simple but obvious, so I'm away to plan out my Warrior King.

Oreos

Given up on Foodie Friday, I've adjusted to Saturday multiple times now. Welcome to sumptuous Saturday instead :)

Everyone loves Oreos.

Rock Chic(k)

I was devastated to discover last night, one of my friends didn't know who Joan Jett was, I quickly chastisted him and directed him to YouTube. My friends and I have an element of musical snobbery and sometimes it spills into other forms and forums.

Crazy Arse Weather

I've had a lot of complaining about the stormy weather from friends and family in my home town in my feed this week.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind them of the ridicule I endured at their hands last year when I was complaining about the weather in Ireland.

I could be the bigger person and offer tea and sympathy but I think I shall opt for petty and childish instead, so without  further ado, "ner ner ner ner".

Study Time

I've an assignment due in today and I still have loads to write so this is just a short, sweet post to keep my minions readers happy.

Tuesday 12 June 2012

Chemistry

One of my siblings sat a chemistry exam today as part of their nursing degree; as I am no stranger to the stressful undertaking of a bio-medicine exam, I thought to try and lighten the load with some combustible humour.

Q: What are: Ba(Na)2
A: Banana
Q: NaCl(aq), NaCl(aq), C C C C C C C
A: Saline, saline, over the seven Cs
Q: What do you do when you find a dead chemist?
A: Barium.
Q: What is the purpose of a doctor?
A: Helium.
Q: What do you call a convict who dresses up as a clown?
A: Silicon.

The Periodic Table of Rejected Elements

Hope this helps 74 W(endy),

Until tomorrow, 44  Ru(th).

Tinfoil Tiaras

I was a very busy chickadee yesterday, mainly in a neurotic frenzy of cleaning because I have visitors arriving this afternoon. Two people from local education board for an annual update (the homeschool equivalent of school league tables and reviews). It's an unnecessary evil but I was late up late working on an educational philosophy and with a sick kid so I've been a bit of a bear. So today I am refreshing myself as to why I love home educating for the funny moments and why some days I want to tear my hair out and rock in a corner.

Nerdrage

Cba writing blog today, I've cut the grass, Sunday lunch to make, a bunch of washing and ironing to sort out, kids to bath, potatoes to plant, curriculum to sort for the week ahead and just some general tidying.

Quitting Smoking

My husband has been off cigarettes for a week now, I am exceedingly proud of his achievement, although there were a couple of days earlier in the week where when I was gardening and had a shovel in my hand I considered burying him under my flower patch.

It's probably just as well that he quits before getting sick, the NHS isn't exactly world renowned for it's healthcare or employment opportunities.

The Ark

Taking the kids to Ark Farm today. So not much time to write anything, here is a humourous pop culture impression of Noah's Ark to tide you over until tomorrow:

On Blogging

Every day from the first of February I have written some small snippet for an audience of about ten, okay six and two relatives obligated to read. When I began this blog, I informed friends when I was featuring their conversations, most of the time they are pleased:

Sometimes they think I am "creepy":

And occasionally my daily blog is inspiring to others:

No Pants Dance

My friend posted this song on her feed this morning and it reminded me of a wee gem I've been saving for a no pants dance.

Tuesday 5 June 2012

Game of Thrones

Last night aired the much awaited end of series finale of Game of Thrones, I still haven't watched it yet as it is airing only on Sky where I am, which I don't get due to the fact that Sky are a shower of bastards and I wouldn't pay Rupert Murdoch a penny ("he owns Fox, they cancelled Firefly"). Husband has begun watching the first series on computer but I haven't seen it yet, I have read all the books and a large portion of internet memes though and seriously if anyone else gives any more spoilers on my newsfeed, there shall be heads on pikes.

Monday 4 June 2012

Fred, There's No Bread

I am heading very soon to the 1st International Bread Festival in Castleward this afternoon and I am looking forward to stuffing my face with baguettes, croissants, soda bread, rye bread, wheaten bread etc. I love bread in all it's manifestations.

It is such a versatile food, you can have with any meal and when I gave it up for Lent I was in mourning.

Last night my husband broke my bread knife in some misappropriate usage, so here's hoping there is a display also.

Little Boy Blue

We're being a bit blue in today's post.

Or is that green?

We like blue poetry most:

Otherwise it's obscene.
